    The Data Engineering Academy is a 16-week practical program designed for data professionals who want to strengthen their data engineering skills and develop the cloud technologies needed to build modern, scalable data solutions.

    With a focus on AWS, SQL and Python, participants will learn how to build scalable data pipelines, manage and model data, work with cloud-based data platforms, and create data products that can support real-world business needs.

    Through technical training, hands-on exercises and a team-based final project, the program combines data engineering foundations with practical cloud engineering skills.

    The program is financed by the Ministry of Labour and the European Social Fund and delivered in partnership with Encevo.

    The Data Engineering Academy is designed for data professionals who want to expand their existing technical skills and move towards cloud-based data engineering.

    It is particularly suited to professionals working in areas such as:

    The program assumes that participants already have a foundation in data and programming and are ready to build on these skills in a cloud environment.

    What will you learn?

    The program focuses on the key skills needed to design, build and operate modern cloud-based data solutions.

    Build scalable data pipelines: Design and manage reliable data pipelines using batch and streaming approaches with AWS Glue, Lambda and S3.

    Manage and model data: Use Python and SQL to work with structured, semi-structured and unstructured data, including data lakes and lakehouses.

    Work with cloud data platforms: Gain hands-on experience with Amazon S3, AWS Glue, Amazon Redshift and AWS EMR and learn how to combine storage and compute services effectively.

    Create data products: Learn how to turn data into accessible products using APIs and serverless architectures, with a focus on scalability, security and cost.

    Ensure data quality and reliability: Apply testing, monitoring and data quality practices to build reliable and maintainable data solutions.

    Connect technology with business value: Learn how to translate business needs into effective data solutions and communicate technical decisions with stakeholders.

    You will also be introduced to relevant concepts and tools around data lakes and lakehouses, APIs, orchestration, infrastructure, monitoring and data quality.

    What do you need to know before joining?

    The Data Engineering Academy is an intermediate-level program, so participants should already have a foundation in data and programming.

    • SQL querying (Intermediate): Window functions, performance tuning, etc.

    • Python for Data Analysis (Beginner): NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib

    • Basic understanding of core Data Engineering concepts

    Learn by building

    The Data Engineering Academy is designed to be practical and hands-on.

    Throughout the 16 weeks, participants will apply concepts through exercises and real-world scenarios, working with AWS services to understand how different components of a modern data platform come together.

    The goal is not simply to learn individual technologies, but to develop the ability to design and build complete data solutions while considering scalability, reliability, security, performance and business requirements.

    Final Project

    The program concludes with a team-based capstone project that brings together the skills developed throughout the course.

    Participants will design and build a data solution using AWS, working through the process from data ingestion and storage to processing, modelling and consumption.

    As part of the final projects, mentors from Encevo will join the teams and provide guidance and support, helping participants develop and deliver their projects while connecting their technical work to real-world challenges.
